The Ministry of Industry and Commerce is mandated to accelerate inclusive industrialisation and commercialisation programmes. The Ministry is positioning the economy to create a conducive environment for employment creation, economic empowerment and value addition in the manufacturing and commercial sectors.

In line with the Local Content Strategy, the Ministry is accelerating rural industrialisation in eight (8) provinces through value chain mapping, which has a multiplier effect and contributes to the use of local products and reliance on local raw materials.

In this regard, regional and global economic realities demand new sources of competitiveness based on innovation and productivity. The Zimbabwe Government has managed to spearhead progressive policy interventions to promote the manufacturing sector. Through the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce was tasked with championing value addition by “Moving the Economy Up the Value Chain and Structural Transformation.”
